GT RACING
Breakell Racing have established themselves as a title-winning GT race team, with exciting growth over recent years seeing them now run multiple programmes across the UK and Europe in leading championships covering multi-class endurance racing and one-make sprint competition

Mercedes-AMG GT4
In 2022, Breakell Racing entered professional GT4 racing for the first time with the acquisition of a Mercedes-AMG GT4. The state-of-the-art car is powered by a 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine, producing 544hp and a top speed of over 150mph, and features a light-weight body, 6-speed gearbox, racing suspension and more.
The team contested selected rounds of the British Endurance Championship (BEC) and P9 Challenge in the first season as they learnt the new car, before scoring multiple podium finishes in a full BEC campaign in 2023.
This year the team are making an exciting debut in the British GT Championship. One of the world’s foremost domestic GT series, it features huge 30+ car grids featuring the top manufacturers in the world across GT3 and GT4 classes.
This is a precursor to larger UK and European race programmes in the car.
Nürburgring
Breakell Racing have a long-standing relationship with the Nurburgring Nordschleife, with team principal James Breakell having made his debut on the world-famous 15-mile circuit back in 2012. Since then, he’s contested more than 20 races there including two starts in the 24 Hour race.
Races on the Nordschleife regularly attract more than 100 cars battling it out, in various machinery from GT3 and GT4 sportscars, to touring cars and production cars. The Nürburgring Endurance Series, formerly known as VLN, features races from four to twelve hours in length, while the 24h Nürburgring is one of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated endurance races of the year.
For 2023, the team acquired a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport and raced in selected NLS rounds before tackling the 24h race again. They return for another challenge this year with Grant Dalton, Grant Woolford and James Breakell.
Breakell Racing are able to support drivers right from the start of their Nurburgring journey, from their first laps on the circuit, to completing their DMSB Permit, going racing on the Nordschleife for the first time and upgrading their permit to compete in more powerful machinery.
Ginetta GT Championship
British race manufacturer Ginetta run a number of domestic one-make racing championships, providing racing opportunities from drivers aged 14 years of age and onwards. Racing on the prestigious British GT Championship, their series provide close, exciting racing on track and fantastic exposure and commercial opportunities for drivers and their sponsors.
Breakell Racing entered Ginetta racing for the first time in 2021 and have since competed in almost all the series on their domestic racing ladder; Junior Championship, GT5 Challenge, GT Academy, GT4 SuperCup and GT Championship.
Establishing themselves as a leading force in the Yorkshire manufacturer’s series, they won the 2022 GT4 SuperCup ‘G56 Am’ title with Wes Pearce, who also made history as the only Am driver ever to win a GT4 SuperCup race outright, and have taken multiple race wins in the GT Academy.
Introduced in 2023, the GT Championship sits atop their racing ladder, acting as a launchpad for drivers into top-level GT racing. The series utilises the GT Pro specification of the G56 sportscar, a 310bhp thoroughbred GT racer.
A phenomenal 2023 season saw the team secure no less than 12 class wins and 35 podium finishes, and arrive-and-drive packages are available for the current campaign.
Porsche Sprint Challenge GB
The team are contesting their second campaign in one-make Porsche racing this season in the Sprint Challenge GB. Introduced in 2020, the championship serves as a feeder series for the Carrera Cup GB and attracts talented, aspiring professional GT drivers across Pro and Am classes.
Racing exclusively on the support package of the British Touring Car Championship, the series utilises two models of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: RS and Clubsport.
After scoring multiple class podium finishes with Reece Somerfield in 2023, he returns for a second season in a brand-new RS car, whilst Karim Sekkat steps up to a Clubsport model as the team expands to a two-car entry.
