Breakell Racing Enjoy Successful Start To Ginetta Season

Breakell Racing are continuing their long-standing association with Ginetta this season, with an entry into the GT Championship with Carl Garnett. The Yorkshireman scored five overall Ginetta podium finishes with the team in 2023, as well as making their British GT debut together last year.

Despite limited pre-season testing with the new-for-2025 Ginetta G56 GTP8, Garnett was straight up to speed in the V8-powered car in the ultra-competitive AM category. Finishing fourth quickest in the opening qualifying session of the year at Donington Park, he replicated that result in race one.

The second race in Leicestershire was the inaugural double-distance 40-minute ‘endurance’ race in the championship. A nightmare start saw Garnett taken out on the approach to the first corner, but fortunately he was able to continue on track and gain more crucial mileage in the new car.

That experience paid dividends across a pair of 25-minute sprint races next time out at Silverstone. Fighting for third throughout the opener, he grabbed the spot late on for his first podium of the season and went on to run in the same place throughout the second race to double his podium tally.

James Breakell – Team Principal: “Considering his limited running in the new car ahead of the opening round, Carl has done a fantastic job to get up to speed so quickly. The AM class is incredibly competitive this year and he’s richly deserved his two podium finishes so far this season.”
