Breakell Racing Secure Top Ten Class Finish At Nürburgring

Breakell Racing have enjoyed a strong start to their 2025 campaign on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a top ten class finish in NLS 3.

A staple part of Breakell Racing’s schedule for many years has been competing on the world-famous Nordschleife, and 2025 is no exception. Their first outing of the year came in the third round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie with their latest acquisition, a BMW M240iR.

Eligible for the hugely-competitive BMW M240 Trophy class, the car would be piloted for the four-hour NLS 3 race by experienced Nürburgring racer Andreas Simon and Gino Manley, who was contesting only his second NLS race but also had prior Nordschleife experience in the Rundstrecken Challenge.

American racer Manley was unlucky to catch a Code 60 caution period during the team’s fastest lap in qualifying, leaving them seventh in class on the grid. Simon took the race start and a composed performance saw him settle them into the top ten through the opening stint.

Manley jumped in and quickly broke the 10-minute barrier in race conditions as he posted the team’s fastest lap of the race. Simon returned to the cockpit for the final run to the chequered flag, with faultless reliability from the BMW ensuring a top ten class finish was achieved.

James Breakell – Team Principal: “As this was our first race event with the new car, our focus was on ensuring good reliability and gaining as much knowledge as possible with the car to take into future events. On that basis, the event was a big success for the team.

“It was great to work with Andreas and Gino. The NLS races are always a big challenge for drivers, negotiating the traffic and staying out of trouble, and they both did a brilliant job to set a competitive pace and bring the car home.”
