Breakell Racing Open Porsche Season With Podium Success

Breakell Racing have enjoyed a brilliant start to their 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season, securing a host of podium finishes across the opening two rounds.

The Lancashire-based team are contesting their third consecutive season in the Sprint Challenge GB, with an unchanged driver line-up from 2024 seeing team regulars Reece Somerfield and Karim Sekkat both lining up in the ultra-competitive RS Am class.

Somerfield was a three-time race winner in RS Am last year and he got his season off to a superb start on the opening weekend at Donington Park. One of the fastest cars in class throughout, he impressively secured a hat-trick of podium finishes in his Forkers-backed Porsche Cayman.

The former Ginetta GT4 SuperCup race-winner backed that up with another great showing in the second event at Brands Hatch. Bouncing back from a tough opener, he charged his way to a fourth podium finish of the season with second in race two and added another top five finish in the closer.

Sekkat meanwhile has stepped up from the older-generation Clubsport model to the RS model for 2025. Adapting well to the newer machinery, he made great progress through the Donington Park opener and picked up a best result of fourth in class in the final encounter.

The forward momentum continued at Brands Hatch with a fantastic drive in the opening race, with Sekkat charging through the field from sixth on the grid to second in class at one stage. He eventually came home third for his first podium of 2025, which he backed up with two more strong finishes.

James Breakell – Team Principal: “We’re delighted to have started the Porsche season with both Reece and Karim picking up podium finishes within the first two weekends. It’s great to have established ourselves as a top team within a very competitive paddock.

“Reece has used all his experience with the RS from last year to really cement himself as a front-runner in the AM class from the off, while Karim is making great progress as he continues to adapt to the newer car and his Brands Hatch podium will be the first of many.”
